For Wigs, Hairpieces & Hair Extensions

Wig Care

Maintenance

To maintain the structure, cleanliness and style of your wig, it is advisable to store your wig on a wig stand in a cool dry location and free of dust is best.

We recommend washing your wig every 6 to 8 wears. Products specially formulated for wigs should be used to maintain the quality and beauty of your wig. Regular shampoos and conditioners do not accommodate the fibers nature of wigs.

The better care you take of your Wig/Hairpiece, the nicer it will look and last.

Do & Don’t Care Tips!

  • Always use a wide toothcomb, as brushing wet hair can cause shedding.
  • Comb wet hair from bottom of wig and do not brush when wet.
  • We do not recommend that you swim or shower with your wig as it can put too much stress on the hair and create tangles.
  • Wash with cold water. Never wash with hot water, this can damage the fibers of hair and adjust the style/structure of your wig.
  • We recommend using No Sweat Lines in your wig especially in hot climates to prevent sweat.
  • Avoidto twist/wring or squeeze your wig. Be gentle on your wig.
  • Avoid sleeping on the wig. The style/structure may change.
  • Wash between 6-8 wears or as often as you need to. This will prolong the life of your hairpiece/wig.
  • Use Shampoo, cleansers, conditioners, combs, brushes, ectspecially designed for wigs.

HUMAN HAIR

We recommend washing your wig or hairpiece every 6-8 wears

IT IS NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU COLOR OR PERM WIGS OR HAIRPIECES

Wash

  • Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with your Wig paddle brush or Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water.  Gently lather the hair with human hair wig Shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly in cool water until the water runs clear
  • Apply Argan Conditioner, avoiding the base cap of the wig or hairpiece (applying conditioner to the base of the cap may weaken the knots)
  • With your fingers, work conditioner through the ends of the hair for about 3-5 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear

Dry

  • Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water
  • DO NOT use a brush to detangle your human hair wig or hairpiece while it is wet, gently use your Jon Renau wide tooth comb

Smooth & Sleek:

  • Blend 2-3 pumps of Wig Treatment Mist to speed drying time and smooth hair without weighing it down.
  • Using a round boar-bristle/nylon brush, work through hair in 2” sections starting at nape.
  • We recommend using a blow dryer (medium to medium-high heat) to style yourhuman hair wig or hairpiece
    • Blow dry in downward motion to smooth and direct hair
    • Over-direct hair for optimal volume.

Styling

  • It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat
  • Your styling tools should be set no higher than 350* F to help maintain the integrity of the hair
  • Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on to each section as you heat style to protect hair. Work in small sections (1-2 inch) starting at the nape
  • When curling your human hair, you can use small metal clips to hold each curl while cooling for a tighter, longer-lasting curl. For a looser, more natural looking curl, allow curls to hang while cooling.
  • Human Hair Wigs can be a large investment, so proper care is a key to make them look great and last through the years.

HD HEAT DEFIANT HAIR

We recommend washing your wig or hairpiece every 6-8 wears

Cleanse & Condition

  • Before washing your HD wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with your Jon Renau wide tooth comb ONLY
  • Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water.
  • Gently lather the hair with a capful of HD Shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly with cool water until water runs clear.
  • Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
  • Gently detangle hair using your Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • Spray with Leave-In Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece

Dry & Style

  • Air-drying your wig will give the best results. You can gently blow dry (low-medium heat) using ONLY your Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • Apply HD Smooth Detangling Spray, (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through again with your Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • We recommend that ONLY the Jon Renau wide toothcomb is used on your HD wig or hairpiece. Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling
  • HD Fiber can withstand heat tools up to 350° F, however, we recommend working at 270°-280° F
  • It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat

Curl:

  • Heat your curling iron to 270°-280°F
  • Using your Jon Renau wide tooth comb, gently comb hair free of tangles
  • Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections of hair (Smaller sections=tighter curls, larger sections=looser curls)
  • Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
  • Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpiece, staying 1-2 inches away
  • Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
  • Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl)
  • Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove clip and let curl hang naturally
  • Hair can be combed with your Jon Renau wide tooth comb(or fingers for best results) to blend curls

Flat Iron:

  • Heat your flat iron to 270°-280°F
  • Starting at the nape, take ½ inch-1.5 inch sections
  • Spray Heat Treat Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section)
  • Staying at least 1-2 inches away from base, slowly smooth flat iron down through ends
  • Keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with your Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely

Tips

  • We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a Jon Renau wide toothcomb DAILY to detangle your HD wig. This is especially important with the mid-length to long length HD wigs or hairpieces
  • Allow your HD wig to air dry naturally instead of blow drying to help maintain the integrity of the fiber
  • Help protect the fiber against heat damage by using Heat Treat Thermal Spray when using heat styling tools

SYNTHETIC FIBER

We recommend washing your wig or hairpiece every 6-8 wears

Cleanse & Condition

  • Before washing your wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with your Wig paddle brush or Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water.  Gently lather the hair with a capful of Shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling
  • Rinse thoroughly with cool water until water runs clear
  • Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry
  • Gently detangle hair using your Jon Renau wide tooth comb
  • Spray with Leave-In Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece

Dry & Style

  • Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand. DO NOT blow dry
  • We recommend simply using your fingertips or wig brush/comb for your desired style
  • If fullness is desired, gently backcomb hair using your wig or hairpiece brush/comb, then smooth the surface hair over and apply Holding Spray
  • DO NOT use heat to style synthetic fiber (curling irons, flat irons or blow dryers)

Tips

  • Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc.) Excessive heat can damage the fiber
  • We recommend using HD Smooth Detangling Spray with a wide toothcomb to detangle your synthetic wig and or Hairpiece. This is especially important with the mid-length to long length wig or hairpiece
  • If you receive your wig or hairpiece and there is a slight "cold       crimp" in the style, mist with water and HD Smooth Detangler Spray and smooth back into the original shape; allow to air dry completely
  • Mono Top wigs allow multi-directional parting in the monofilament area. If the fiber is being resistant when changing the parting, warm your hands by vigorously rubbing them together and place your palm flat on the part, hold for 10-15 seconds. The warmth from your hands will help the fiber settle into the new parting and direction
  • Never expose your Synthetic Wig to heated tools such as curing irons, hair dryers, and other heat sources.
  • When cutting synthetic fiber, we recommend using a dense steel blade shear. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING A RAZOR FOR CUTTING SYNTHETIC FIBER. This tool can shred the ends and lead to fraying and damage to the fiber.
